Hello Guys!!!! Its been long since I posted a report. This is my first one for this year but more are coming. We have come up with an idea of strengthening citizens' voices in high density areas in Zimbabwe while encouraging them to vote in peace in the forthcoming elections that should be happening soon. The concept is called Paint, Dance and Vote (PADAVO). We bring music to the people to dance and we also bring plain t-shirts and plain banners for people to print and paint. We also continuously encourage them to register to vote so that they will be eligible to vote in the coming elections. Last Saturday, the Chitungwiza High Density area came to a standstill as more than 2000 people attended are first event from this idea. Below are some pictures from the event. On the sidelines of the painting, there will be a stage were music will be playing and artists performing. Hope you will like it.......
This report is basically about the day i was awarded the Gold Star Award by the US State Department Office of Alumni Affairs in Washington DC in March. The award is basically a recognition of the work that alumni of US Exchange programs do back home after their first exchange program in the US.In my case it is the work we do with Zimbabwe Poets for Human Rights and other civil society actors in Zimbabwe. On this day i addressed over 500 delegates from across the US as part of receiving the award, it was an emotional moment for me considering that i was the only African recipient for 2013 and one of the six recipients the world over chosen from over 100 people nominated by US Embassies across the globe.
